need help from electronics gurus

When I bought my mount used, the seller was kind enough to throw in some other items. One was these leads to connect to a car battery and give me 4 cigarette lighter sockets. To date I've only use one or 2 of the sockets at a time, and I've only been using the socket pair on the left with both red and black wires going to each of the battery terminal clamps.

The other night I tried plugging something into the right hand socket pair and nothing happened. I realise it's because the red wire isn't connected to anything, but am unsure of what to connect it to! And I don't want to fry anything - the mount or myself!

If I had to guess, I'd say it needs to connect into the arm of the red battery clamp that already has the red wire coming out of it. (I don't recall if it was connected there when I got it and it's broken off somehow, or if it was never connected in the first place.)

Correct? If not, where?

Open end red wire was supposed to be connected to red clip (together with the other one), but somehow it fell off.

Go and purchase yourself a elcheepo multi meter 10 bucks or so, do a continuity test (basically to see whats connected to what, this will tell you what you need to connect up. another thing is take a photo of what you have so we can see what your talking about

Seconded.

Do you need four sockets at once? If so connect the floating red wire into the red clip. I would maybe use two small bolts and nuts through the flanges to hold the two pair of sockets together and make it all a bit neater.

If not I would cut the black wire at the black clip belonging to the socket pair with the unattached red wire.
