Hi Glen,

just new to IIS, and the proud owner of a shiny new reflector. I'm in Glen Aplin, about 30km north of the Tenterfield airport, and would welcome the opportunity to join, observe and learn.
I think the partner should let me out for the evening... but I'll be in touch closer to the event.

Here is a map:
The airport is about 11km NW of Tenterfield and 795m altitude. The road in is all sealed.

Yup! I've been watching that. Looking good for tonight, ground has dried
out quite well, after a wind blown few days. I think I'll get the scope out
tonight as looking at the forcast... might not get another chance this week.

regards,CS

Oz Forecast states min cloud cover at 64%, and damn, if it wasn't pouring this morning. However, I'm looking at bright blue skies just now... I guess it will be a case of seeing what tomorrow will bring...

unfortunately, i have to accompany the lady to brisbane on saturday, so I'm out sat night...

I think it is best to call it off for this time. Shall try again in 2009.

I'm going to be away for the weekend, knee to waste deep in a swamp, in the bush, fixing fences. The view is superb... the skies are dark, it's one of the last remaining (substanual) natural wetlands left on the north coast of it's kind in private hands, and my mate owns it. The native wildlife is amazing. We're thinking of putting in some raised walkways and some birding platforms, maybe even some open air night cabins. I'd loved to go in there at night and see just what goes on. Anyways it's work that can be done wet or dry

oh well, figures... my first star party and the weather wrecks it. i guess i need to get used to this (great things to view in the sky==> opportunity determined by what's between the ground and space)...

i'm up for early next year anyway. have a good summer!

yeah it cleared down on the coast just after dark.. The radar showed a little rain out that way fairly late in the day but it looked like it was going to just miss tenterfield glen.. pity it didn't give us a bit more time .. I think it was still raining here around 4.00 pm .. took out the binos for a while and might try my new eyepiece tonight

hey rob if you could find the time could you drop some pics in here showing how your encoders mount ?
I might try and turn something up when I see the old man at x-mass my az bolt will be a little tricky and if I could get a few thoughts on how I'll go with it before i get there will save a little time... no hurry and much appreaciated if you can

Sure, the kit comes with an azi bolt to take the azi encoder, ooop's your not getting the kit (silly me) oh well I just happen to have a couple spare azi bolts and plate from WC here if you would like one. I have two different lengths to suit 18mm or 36mm rocker box floor. What new EP did you get?
