Which Targets

Hi all.
Have just started astrophotography and would like to start imaging some easier deep sky targets .Could you suggest some (have started with m42) more.

Well Kepp, I would suggest some wide field stuff, but unfortunately at this time of the year one has to wait well after 11pm to get a good start.

Try something like Eta Carinae, or even Onion Neb M42, , bugger just re-read your post you have alrerady done m42, sorry

The Flame Nebula and Horsehead seem popular and not too hard to image?

What about a nice globular cluster like 47 Tuc?

And the lovely NGC253 always seems to come up well for imagers.

Get up early in the morning and check out the Leo Triplet (M65, M66 and that other NGC galaxy).

There was a list of the "100 brightest DSO's for southern observers" but this is now superseded and broken up into articles: like "110 Southern Sky Doubles"; "100 brightest Planetary nebula for Southern Observers"...etc.

I am still working with the old 100 brightest DSO's for southern observers...I have mucked around with it, added amended added names and generally played around with it...here ya go..added as an attachment.

You must enable excel macros (when opening the document) as I have included some macros I wrote to convert Decimal co-ords to DMS and HMS. These are harmless.

Just un-zip it and open with excel.

Edit:

Damn I used winrar...all fixed now renamed it to a zip file.

I also added hyperlinks to the object names so you can read data on the targets (by clicking on the names) and added size of some objects so you can get an idea of the targets FOV size.
