M42 3/1/09

after layering the core l cannot seem to clean up the background without completely destroying the image, any ideas are welcomed.
not a great image overall but l thought l could get the sky a little better.

try raising the black point on the image prior to layering the core, this will give a darker background which is the main issue.

if you want to keep the midtones in then duplicate the image prior to lifting the blackpoint via levels , then do a double layering.

just an idea..... without seeing all the data you have its just a guess.
