Moon phase depicted on IIS

Been wondering about this since joining IIS... finally I had to ask...

... the phase of the moon as depicted on IIS is correct for northern hemisphere observers (facing south) as the moon crosses the meridian.

So why isn't it rotated 180 degrees so that it would be as seen in the southern hemisphere ?

It's a common mistake, almost every ephemeris app written by developers living in the northern hemisphere has suffered from this.
