Petrol at under $1 a litre at the local servo..
I've been watching the fuel prices trickle lower and lower of late, tonight on my way in to work the local was advertising E10 ethanol blended fuel for 99.9 c a litre
That's with the 4c per litre discount docket.
(Non-blended, unleaded, un-discounted fuel was $1.08 a litre).
This is great news for everyone, and it suremakes it a lot cheaper for me to fill the 132 litre tank, but I do use a lot more LPG that unleaded obviously at the price difference - last purchase of LPG was at 64.9 c a litre
This is on the Sunshine Coast too, not in Brisbane - so I'm curious as to what people in Brisbane and other capitals are paying for fuel, and what the "more" regional prices are currently, and also how low do we think fuel prices are going to go?

And diesel still seems to be 30c dearer than petrol with no discounting.

Bit dearer in NSW but its the cheapest trip to Sydney I have had in ages... just rolled in from up home, not many on the roads today, wet and worry won over prices it seems...

Thanks Steve. Much the same in Melbourne, I think. Reg unleaded should bottom out under $1.10/litre by Wed morning.
Slightly of topic, but same stuff - who is using the Coles/Shell E10 now? I've switched now I can get 3 cents less plus 4 cents less for Coles docket! Pushing towards a 7% discount now - that's worthwhile. The independents sell it for 4 cents off, but I used to reckon - why buy for the same price as discount unleaded from a Coles outlet?

Yep that sucks big time doesn't it mate. Wish I could send you some cheaper fuel for Christmas. (Enjoy the Doctor Who though!)
I have used ethanol blended fuel in the past - and while I can't say there is a direct link, it bothers me that during the 2 short periods when I WAS using it the engine in the car got cooked each time - $3k for a short engine replacement the first time, $5k for a long engine the 2nd. This is a car I've had now for 9 years, the ONLY major engine probs were during these short (2 month or so) periods. I either use LPG now, or the non-ethanol stuff. I can't afford to try it a 3rd time, I don't have thousands of dollars sitting around.

I haven't really paid attention to LPG prices since I don't have it, but have they been dropping down as well lately?

It sounds like Bio-Diesel Eric. It's made from recycling old cooking oil.
I've read it's significantly cheaper and your exhaust smells like doughnuts.

prices a bit different in nz. It has dropped a lot recently and now down to around $1:44 a lot cheaper than the $2:20 it used to be.
Hope that makes you all feel better.
Cheers all

$1.18 less 8c discount (I bought a couple of Cokes with my petrol) this avo at Mt Hutton Woolies Petrol.
Put 85 litres of ULP into the beast , E10 was cheaper , but it's a false economy as Ethanol has only 80% the energy density of ULP , so you wont get as many km from the same volume of E10 as you will from ULP, and it is also corrosive so I am not going there.

Lee : what's the molecule in your signature ? I'm pretty rusty on my organic chemistry (been over 20 years and I can't find it in my Aldrich Catalogue) .

I have noticed a drop in price to about 1.18 sometimes 1:09. Better than the 1:30-40 days.
I went to my local Caltex about 2 weeks back to fill up and guess what, they had no unleaded fuel. The guy at the counter said we only do premium stuff now. They had E10 and premium. Since when has E10 blend become a premium fuel? It also seems like a lot of servos will only advertise the E10 price now and dont tell you what unleaded costs until you drive in. Or in this case if they even have it.
I cant afford to stuff up my car using E10 blended, are there cars now being made with guarantees and warranty to cover usage of E10 blended fuel?
Regards
Fahim

Yeh ! I struck the Woolies (Caltex ?) at Belmont near Bunnings trying the same capper about 6 weeks ago - had all the ULP pumps padlocked and only had E10 and Super (or what ever they call it) , no sign or indication on the driveway entering the servo .... bit rude .... so I went inside and gave the guy inside (who I happen to know is the manager) a serve and I DID NOT BUY my petrol there , I wasn't the only very miffed driver who took a very dim view of this there were several other people who wanted ULP and did not accept the BS story he was giving us , I drove on to Mt Hutton and bought (90 litres of ULP) there for the same price the place at Belmont was advertising.
I've not been back to buy petrol at Belmont Woolies servo since - I refuse to give them my trade.
This was on a Cheap Tuesday BTW ....
