Toucam'd Moon

I've been trying to push the limits of Toucam imaging with my 8" f/6 Newtonian. During the smiley conjunction a few days ago, I took a few prime-focus narrow-angle shots of the moon, aligned and stacked them to produce 6 different overlapping views (click here to see one of them). I got bored and decided to feed these to the awesome Autostitch program to produce a wide-angle image, not expecting much.

Instead I'm somewhat thrilled with the result given it was all done on a simple webcam! Enjoy.

3 weeks of rain, then the clouds parted just in time to greet us with a night of smiley face, then a frown-face the next night, then immediately the clouds came in again to be rainy ever since. Just in case we didn't quite get the divine message the first time round, we can just point our scopes here for a reminder:

I can almost resolve that cloud when I image Eta Carine with my refractor.. its a little darkish dark in a lightish area...

Must try it with the C11 for a bit more resolution.

Alex.

Ash, I too would be pleased with that result. Have not tried Autostitch but will remember it for the future.

Hi Ash. Thanks for sharing. Nice image, really excellent detail and good results. Maybe, you'll be doing more webcamming and autostitching in the future? Keep up the good work. Look forward to seeing more.

Russ
