DSC on EQ mount

Hi,

I was reading about Dave Ek's digital setting circles for dobs and I was wondering if anyone has managed to mount encoders on (motorised) EQ mount? I could not find any info on the net.
Attaching an encoder to the RA axis looks easy but the DEC does not look easily accessible.

I have seen that it is possible to get Argo Navis for EQ5 but it is expensive and also building things myself is more fun

Thanks,
Luka

Involves precision belts and wheels to mount an offset encoder on each axis.

Is doable and but fiddlely.

You can also have a look at the following web page for another example:

Luka, in the long run you might be better of getting a Goto upgrade for your eq5. I think the Ioptron Gotonova should bolt straight on to your mount.
The ArgoNavis is the best DSC option out there, and its money well spent. The encoder mounting is some what doable on a Dob, but more fiddly to diy on a EQ mount.
