I know this sounds nuts.

Hi,

Our school has just bought a GSO 12" DOB and my mate and I had it out last night, full moon, to look through for the first time and I immediately started thinking how could I attach this to my EQ6 Pro and have a go at imaging through this. Is this possible and where would I get the attachment rings? Does anyone have a set up like this and can you advise me on any mods that may be required or should I be happy and just stick with my W/O Flt 110. Of course I could do both and be twice as happy.

Mark

You can buy the tube rings from places like andrewscom at a decent price:

For deepsky I'd suggest sticking to the refractor, but if you want to do some planetary work with the GSO then having it mounted on the EQ6 will sure make it alot easier!

Hi batema,
Ive been doing some reaserch into this as i too own a 12" gso. Have been talking to a few people and there are a couple of problems. One is since the scope is so big that any wind can cause the scope to move on the mount and you will only be able to do short exposure photography as a guide scope will push the total weight close to the load limit of the eq6. My ota is about 20kg, so with a load limit of 23kg its cutting it a bit fine. Saying that there are people who do use the 12" (alchamy and iceman) so never rule it out.

Cheers
Scott

Ignore that andrews link. They are for a 10" scope. I bought a pair and will try to modify them to fit the 12" GSO but I don;t think it will happen. They are cast and don't like being bent.
