Reasons to be cheerful part 1

Mikes post re being positive today got me thinking.

There seems there is a bit of negative “in the air” certainly I have detected it while out and about even...I thought it was me, but when I think about it so many folk I call to see are certainly “different”... some aggressive some picky some argumentative...me too maybe ….and this week listening to the news there is little cheerful stuff...although for the first time I see the virtue of cricket...that sounded like good news.

SO look at us here... dollar is down which I suspect has put off many purchases until we accept the “loss” ...and what does it matter if you finally get the 25 inch there is no sky most of the time... and some cabin crazy fool like me comes on flapping his gums....

So I propose replies to this post be simply perhaps good news ...the cat had kittens maybe...or if not that perhaps then some fine human who did something good...known unknown does not matter.

I dont want to tell folk what to say but you will get my drift and post something uplifting or wonder what the heck is he talking about this time.

My good news is the dog I have been thinking of putting down for some 6 months has come good...she is happy as... she can walk again... I love her and she loves me...and the same for the other little darling.

I mean I got heaps of good things to think about when I think about it but I admit I have been so down for some reason...but all better now.

So what do you reckon.....can you contribute some gem of happy thought..a saying even...

I'll try to contribute to the cheerful thinking thread and the good karma that comes from the positive vibes...

Everyone is in good health at my house for the moment...

My children both finished their respective school years with good marks and very complimentary comments from their teachers and school administrators. The comments touched on how well behaved and attentive the boys were and what darlings they were in class...after checking to make sure the name was correct on both school reports, (they were) I basked in the positive glow of successful parenting (at least for the moment).

I've got a new job to look forward to next month and my colleagues at my current job gave me a tremondously touching and warm send-off dinner for my wife and I...their thoughtfulness brought tears to my eyes and more than one hug was given and received...

I bought a new house (to go with the new job) and have been able to take advantage of the falling interest rates to secure a reasonable monthly mortgage payment schedule that will enable my family to have a nice house and enjoy life too.

Lots of reasons for me to be cheerful! Thansk for starting the thread and helping me remember some of them! Happy Holidays...

I don't have to go back to work for 15 more days, which is my good news

I'm looking forward to catching up with family & friends over the next couple of weeks

I went out for a drive to Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve earlier today and snapped a whole bunch of photographs.

Was wonderful indulging in the scenery along with the emus and kangaroos.

My life is Great in the "Sunshine State" at the moment

I have just ordered a new tank with the Christmas Gift from Uncle Kevin

My health is good

I have just met some New Friends through the Bush Walking group I have joined

and have an invite to share Christmas dinner with friends

So at the moment all is well,but will be a bit better if I win the Lotto tonight

Working in a rural buisness that has its buisiest time approaching around
x-mass never left anytime for family and friends this time of year .
In fact I sought of looked at that small break as sometimes an
intrusion into getting things done.. sure I spent time with the family x-mass day and sometimes boxing day but it was just a brief break with chaos lined up before and after .

This year I changed jobs and for the first time in 14 years am able to spend time with my family without the hassle of
having to think about work anytime soon .. everyones gone home and the workplace is locked up for weeks

It seems a little strange in a way .. a bunch of friends around to dinner tommorow ( never this time of year)
and I don't have to think about other stuff happening monday

I,m cheerfull now because of annual leave,spend time with my son,not worrie about supervising workers, gee i,m happy.....cheers Kev.

I have a great family. I get to spent two weeks holiday with them when every one else at work will be around for work.

Like Nightstalker used to I work in the rural scene so even more happy about the time off than I might other wise be.

A good thread Evan at a nice time of year. Thank you all for sharing your good news, I will share mine, personal as it is I am finding all on this site pretty easy going folk. There have been many highlights for me this year not the least my first supernova discovery but that pales into insignificance with events that have happened in the last 2 months. Our severley disabled (cerebal palsy etc, etc, etc) 20 year old son whom we have given up much for (and we wouldn't change that) will be moving into his own fully modified home early next year with 24/7 carers. Though it is a massive change fort us all we will still see him regularly. For years we have been scared about his future should anything happen to us. We are getting older to keep doing the lifting etc that is required is becoming difficult. All that is available for him would be to end up in an old peoples home as nothing else really exists for the majority of people as disabled as he is. So this has come completely out of left field and so we have some emotional adjustments to go through but it is simply wonderful news for him and for us. So there ya go folks a good news story.

Now this is great and hopefully if folk read it and are feeling down they can try and think about something good..and it is that time of the year we should do that

I was able to put two of our casual staff into permanent jobs on Friday which really made them happy.

It gave me a good buzz to be able to do that for them.

Just installed Skype, so now I can talk directly to my daughters, ones in Geraldton WA and the other lives in Berlin. Although she is in Geraldton at the moment on holiday. Will be great to keep closer contact

I use that a lot myself Phil. I'm a great believer in it too, as many people are all too happy to be miserable when they have plenty to be glad about.

I have a polished pebble which I keep on the shelf with my wallet etc, and most mornings I put it in my pocket along with my other rubbish, and thru the day, each time I feel it, I'm reminded to reflect on all I have to be grateful for.... so it's my 'gratitude rock'

I have kitchen office filing cabinet to store food its the only thing that can keep criters out

... but I write little gems of wisdom that pop in all over it

...rather than on the wall like before

...so they build up

...anyways it started to look strange and it covers various insites as they say ...so I added a text at the top describing the cabinet as a thought machine that if you stood before it and held an open mind you could receive the thoughts of various people on the planet

...a joke you see

.... but it really works

.
So I record them on the cabinet as proof.

So its there to make me happy...I drew a large warrior on it with carcoal after she raided my stock pile..it is amazing how the sbconscieious works looking at it..

I have been working at this folks because I needed to but you know what I love is my little phone...I text so dont have to talk but I dont really use it as a phone..it is a little handy camera..the movies are such great remaineders of the past 6 odd months... the voice recorder I play guitar stuff onto and play over it on play back ...the alarm clocks I dont know what I would do without them...the memo thingy for shopping lists reminers etc...all for probably $100 these days and it does for me stuff I never thought my first computer would do...it is so cool and I really appreciate it..so simple...and the binos for $200 you dont need more here to be truthful... I do mainly low mag so I manage with them really... wonderful cameras for our hobby that are within reach.

All good gee when you think of the material things there is no limit...remote planes with built in cameras I have seen for $100 US... and folk used to think that idea was crazy.

AND the good thing is even this downturn will see a better world.

I read a story in my local newspaper a couple of days ago about a guy that lost a wallet with $400cash in it. Someone found it and handed in to the police station with the cash still in it.

How often does that happen I wonder?

If it was me I'd be pretty cheerful when I got it back.
