No Doctor Series in 2009, and new Doctor in 2010.

Read about it here .... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7698539.stm

But for my fellow Doctor Who addicts .... all is not lost, there will be some Doctor Who movies in 2009 to keep us on our toes and to keep us teased.

Who do you think the next Doctor Who should be :

-== what about Billy Connelly ?
-== what about Robert Lindsay (the dad in My Family) ?
-== please don't give the part to Patrict Stewart.
-== hey a female Doctor Who might be interesting.

The Doctor transfers his "soul" into Rose Tyler or Donna Noble.

Ohhhhh. now I am going to be sad all day luv David Tennant .... oh well ......... a job well done, thankyou.

'David Tennant is to stand down as Doctor Who, after becoming one of the most popular Time Lords in the history of the BBC science fiction show.'
"When Doctor Who returns in 2010 it won't be with me,"

and no Dr Who next year EITHER, what the ....... very depressed

Trevor the rules around bypassing the profanity filter are pretty clear. Yes most of us are adults but the audience of this site includes children and people who don't need or want to read swearing.

Thanks for your understanding.

If you'd like to discuss it further please PM me.

I believe some pundits are suggesting John Simm, who played "Sam Tyler" in Life on Mars.

that would be odd as he played another character, didn't he?

also, i read that James Nesbitt may be the next doctor.

I would find Paterson Joseph a bit hard to watch initially because every time i see himm I think of his role as the Admiral in Hyperdrive.

I think that is the reason David is leaving the series.
Typecasting has lost us a lot of talented actors.
Can you imagine Daniel Radcliffe as the Doctor?
Who knows, he may be ideal, but we just can't get past seeing him as "Harry Potter".

Ah yes, I'd forgotten that - he played The Master.. a bit hard for him to turn around and become The Doctor!

My wife must be talking through her hat.

I wouldn't like Nesbitt, I found him irritating in Jekyll.

hmmm...
'Harry Potter' would bring in the younger crowd but since the doctor only has one (or two?) regenerations left why worry about them?
get an actor that will appeal to the 30-45 age group.

Ron Jeremy.
Or Ozzy Osbourne.

Cheers,
Jason.
Who preferred Christopher Eccleston over David Tennant.

I think they missed a great opportunity to make Catherine Tate the doctor. She was fantastic. John Simm would be good. There is a precedent as Lalla Ward played Princess Astrid and then went on to become a regeneration of Romana.
