M42 from Cambroon

Heres another of my images from cambroon, again, taken with my DSLR + Megrez 102. This was a real pain to edit compared to the data I get from my QHY8.. however its come up ok..

Thanks go to Paul '[1ponders]' for helping me sort out my guiding... This is the deepest image I've ever produced...

8x510sec (8.5min) ISO800
2x600sec ISO400

The fog rolled in and I had to stop half way through the 3rd 10min sub, so I didn't get a chance to do some 10~20sec subs to tame the core... Not to worry..

I've posted 2 edits of this, first, the original color balance, the 2nd one was the outcome of me playing with the hue... it looked to me a bit like a narrowband SHO shot, so I saved it... Some may like it, some may hate it.. I think its kind of cool looking if somewhat unnatural.

Cheers for looking.
Alex.

I agree, nice M42 Alex. The colours in the first one look spot on. The fainter areas have come up very nice as well.

Just wondering what was changed in your guiding settings?

Well done.

Thanks Jen, Matt & Tj.

Matt - the guiding issue... Wiggled a cable, and changed a few camera settings in PHD.... I was using it in 1024x768 (unknown) codec, Paul changed it to 1024x768 Y800 codec, and in the Camera Dialog, the exposure setting I had at 4, he lowered that to 1 or 2.. worked spot on after that...

Tj - Almost mate... ALLLLMOST!!

I'm no expert.
