Deep Inside The Trapezium

Hi All,
After a frustating windy 12 hours at Linden Observatory (Blue Mountains NSW) last weekend I managed to capture this one at around 3.00 am.

This is my first ever guided image.
Piggy backed Zenith Star 80mm on Celestron GPS11 for guiding.
Used the new Orion Guide Camera that comes with PDH guiding.
After some initial glitches and some help from fellow WSAAG member Narayan, we managed to succesfully go through the calibration process.
Wow how simple is PDH guiding to assist with auto guiding, I love it.

The image is 20 x 60 seconds exposures at f3.3 with the Celestron GPS11, Meade DSI III camera. Meade Envisage software auto stacked the 20 images on the fly, rejecting around that many again due to lack of image quality above 80%. Magic software.

I have to admit I'm not one for those full in your faces images, more of a wide filed person, however having said that Gerry you sure have got right in there, and it has turned out pretty well indeed.

Have to agree mate, that PHD is a great working tool for us dummies, I speak for myself here Gerry.

Might see you at Vic/South, if you are going that is.

Would love to go to Vicsouth but no can do this year.
I am going to attend IIS at Lostock later this month. Are you??.
You would get to meet a lot of the folks on this forum if you did.

Great image there Gerry, guiding with PHD is certainly easy, and the price is right too! You did well getting that image with the wind gusting like that, the sky's the limit now that you're guiding, I'm looking forward to seeing 10-minute subs of faint fuzzies from that 11-inch light bucket of yours

I always find the upper left region that I call the "Beak" a fascinating area to image.

Nice image. I lean twords the up close and personal but love looking at others widefields. Mind you if I had Leon's Tak... I have always been a bit dissapointed with the Meade stack on the run. A few bad ones always creep in on me so I stack later with maxim but your image looks fine.
