I got a deep shot of this comet tonight. 40 mins worth, upon processing I spied something travelling a different course, above the comet nearits ion tail. Consulting Star Atlas pro found it to be Asteroid (344)Desiderata at a bright Mag 13. There are lots of fainter asteroids Star Atlas Pro shows in the field, I will attempt to identify some later.
Image is 8x5 mins ISO200, LPS filter Modded 350D, 300mm f2.8 Flourite lens from Bert. Imaging began at 18:58 AEST on 30 sept 08

Great timing, Scott! 2 inner solar system bodies almost crossing paths.. perhaps the asteroid will get blown into an earth-crossing orbit by the dust from the tail
Thanks all
Heres another version this time stacked and aligned on stars and cropped from the centre, (344)Desiderata is now clearly visible as a moving object near the ion tail.
