Calling all Botanists

Hi all, I am wondering if there are any Botanists or budding Botanists (no pun intended)who could help me identify this little flower.

It pops up around this time every year, last for about 3 weeks and that's it for another 12 months. It grows all around on the land around the house which is about 5 acres. It's also a tiny thing and grows to about 5-7 cm high.

Hi Paul, forgot to add that. Wamboin is a rural community in the Southern Tablelands about 30km East of Canberra.

According to my Burbidge and Gray, its an Anguillaria dioica. Common name "Early Nancy".

Thanks for the info Telemarker, I'll do a google and see what they say about it.

Hope it's not rare or endangered. I might have my house sealed off and not be allowed in to the property.

Just done a quick google and apparently the bulbs are a bush tucker food described as small, round and very starchy.

I find it quite amazing to find out whats growing in the local ecosystem.

Beaten to the punch

You will find it also under the name of Wurmbea dioica subsp. dioica (Also http://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/cg...Wurmbea~dioica). This is the NSW variety. There is another one Wurmbea dioica subsp. alba in WA
