My Best Tarantula

Tarantula Nebula. A compiled image of 10 X 10 minute images calibrated with Darks, Flats and Bias files. The surface stars were a little elongated and overpowering so I have reduced them a bit in IP.
The image has been cropped by about 10% to center the image.
Camera: QHY8
Telescope: Vixen VC200L
Guided with: Takahashi FS102 and QHY5 and PHD.

Image adjusted using Photoshop CS3 and IP3

I like this one. Many colours through the region. Dumb question but is the QYH8 a colour or mono and did you use Ha filtering?

Like yer work Doug ... looks great. I have some really bad images of that nebula, a fact i'm constantly reminded of when I see good ones such as this. Weather permitting I may be able to have a look tonight.

No Ha filter was used. Would be very interesting to see the difference, I might add some in the next few days and see what happens. QHY8 is a one shot colour camera but is quite Ha snsitive.

Thanks everyone for the kind remarks.

Excellent Doug. Looks like you're starting to get the rig dialled in and feel for the camera too. Pleasing display of details in the outer regions of nebulosity and you've maintained star colours very well. Good stuff!
