Antares M4 area widefield.

I found some data from last week that I hadn't processed yet..

350D, 70-200F/4L, 1.4 Extender @ 280mm F/5.6

a grand total of 10 minutes of data..

I learnt a few things about processing thanks to Doug (Hagar) and put them to use, I thought this shot had captured no nebulosity at all, hence I had not attempted to process it at all..

Well Alex it certainly did have some nebulosity, and came out pretty well, nice going.

Hi Alex.

This is on my to do list and I suspect it is a lot tougher than the incredible images you see on this forum suggest. You've captured some nice detail here. Well done.

had I known that the data was there, I'd have gone over the area again a bit more aggressively... I had just figured that my 1min subs unguided were not enough to pull the nebulosity out.. Had I known that it would come out like like that with only 10x1min, I would have done 40x1 min and at least cleaned it up a bit.. it is kind of noisy... but at the forum size its not noticable

Lovely image you've got there! Great capture with the colour contrast. What ISO setting was the 350D on?

Thanks Troy.. The original images out of the camera were flat black images with antares and a few other bright stars showing through.... I was amazed to be able to pull all that data out of them..

The 350D (this is from memory) was at ISO800 for 5 of the shots and ISO1600 for 5 of them.. The ISO1600 shots with the 350D were pretty shocking, however I figure reguardless of the noise, more data is still more data..

I ran the image through Noiseware CE to reduce the noise a bit..

I've found ISO800 is the best with the 350D, however luckily for me, I dont have to worry about ISO speeds anymore
