no visible sharp fieldstop on my 2" 30mm GSO Eyepiece

Hi there. i just received one of those 30mm 2" GSO superview eyepieces in the mail to try it out. When I peeked into the eyelens just after getting it , it looks like there is no visible fieldstop, but just a blurryness to the edge.
Is this normal for these eyepieces???...I havent tried it out in my scope, but I am going to tomorrow night.

Don't worry Mark, You will enjoy the views with it.

I have learnt through these forums to ignore the big black splotch in the centre of the FOV during daylight with the 2" 30mm SV. It is not there during night viewing.

The GS 2" 30mm SV is a real Galaxy magnet in a 12" Dobbie!! Check out the Virgo Cluster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Mark,

Your assumption is correct. These eyepieces use the inside of the barrell skirt as the field stop. Doesn't affect the night time views, excepting that the EOF is not quite as clearly defined, you will like the eyepiece it does an exceptional job considering its price level.

God, I remember not so many months ago I thought the Superview was a BIG investment. (It was my first astro purchase after the Dob.) I spent SO much more since...
