I used to make air suits at Ramblers Drop Zone at Toogoolawah.
While I never made a Bird Man suit myself, I can fully appreciate the stresses these garment are under. They're custom made for each individual and a fair bit of skull sweat is used to make sure that they perform perfectly from the first jump. The quality of the materials used,eg fabric, thread, tapes, zips etc and the quality of the sewing are as important as the design of the outfit. You'd not want seams unravelling while doing that sort of extreme sport.

Wing suit flying is cool - but the proximity flying in them is just insanely amazing - really going for it! I just wished they used higher quality cameras on those shots - the limitations of the film quality on you tube holds back the experience.
