What's going on? NO BEEPING PLEASE

How come you guys have added some sort of add-on flash player installer? Now I won't be able to have sneak looks at the forum during work - the stupid thing has just BEEPED about 20 times in the last few minutes And is so noisy that ALL the people around me will guess I am up to something, and the boss will ban the forum completely.....
How can I turn the BEEP OFF PERMANENTLY??

Hi Jimmy
I don't know what beeping you're talking about. Nothing has changed here.

I guess it must be something local on your end. I can guarantee there are no popups or add-on's anywhere at IceInSpace.

It is probably just a new revision of adobe flash player released. You likely have an older version installed that needs updating?

To stop the beeping - just install the updated flash player.

Oh the countdown timer in the left column uses flash I believe.

So Kal is probably right.

Well that's a new one. I didn't write any beeping code for the countdown timer. There's actually no sound associated with it at all.

I don't know why it would be beeping in your browser. I've never seen that problem before.

Thanks guys for that ---PHEW, I had a worrying time. I have clicked in "Install" and so far no beeping.
The message as soon as I booted up IceinSpace was " This website wants to install the following add-on: "Adobe flash player installer" If you trust and....etc... want to install, click hers" So I clicked here
So far, so good

Is that the actual wording Microsoft use? That's more than a little misleading.

Yep. Just a bit. Websites don't *want* to install anything. The browser might want to install something it doesn't have. It makes it sound like it has nothing to do with them, it's the website's fault.

Great. You're driving along, it starts to snow and your Microsoft car gives you a message that says, "this road wants to install the following add-on: Snow chains".

Ahh Yes,

But before you can accept the addon, you have to press the CTRL-ALT-DEL key sequence on the dashboard, get out and run around the outside of the car, but before you can get in, you have to wait for the latest update to be loaded into the Door Open 2008 software, so while you shiver in the snow you notice there is someone already inside who got in when you ran around because everyone in the world has a key to bypass the security system in a Microsoft Car. However, the good news is he doesnt get more than 5 metres down the road before the car stops, so you stroll over, kick in the Windows (see what I did there? lol) and beat him up while there shines a little paper clip on the screen saying : "It looks like you are hijacking this car, would you like some help?"

Just then, a Mac OSX sports car flies past at 200kmh with its 1300cc 1956 engine but slams into a tree because the driver only has one pedal, accelerate.

A Linux 4WD trundles past with the driver sitting on a picnic bench in front of him a cane rattan dashboard with a single line dot matrix display showing the command: drive/etc/bin/gearbox/select/four, with the driver frantically typing "left" "right" "straight" "decelerate" "stop" on the 104 key "steering wheel"........

No thanks, can we leave the OS makers out of the car please?

Cheers

Chris
