A Quick 47 Tuc

I setup last night hoping to capture Sculpter Galaxy but due to its close proximity to Moon I decided to capture NGC 104 instead. It is just a quick and nasty image of 47 Tuc however it has come out better than I had expected.

Total exposure time of 15 mins that consists of 10 x 1 min subs and 1 x 5 minute sub all at ISO 400.

Thanks.

Your right Matty it did come out pretty well indeed, now if that Moon would have racked off you would of been absent of some of that light pollution, well done.

Thanks Leon and Ric,

I would like to revisit this object when there is no Moon and capture more subs.

Matty, It looks like your guiding is pretty spot on as well nice round stars you have captured.

Now you say you exposed 10 @ 1 min, and 1 @ 5 min's, did you use HDR in your processing, if not could you,...... "Please Explain"

Hi Leon,

All I did was stack the 10 x 1 minute and 1 x 5 minute sub in DSS, then processed it normally in PS.

Thanks Jeff. Yes, it is a lovely imaging target.

HDR = High Dynamic Range

Matty,

As the others have said - looks good considering the conditions. Nice sharp stars. How did you combine the subs?

Thanks Matty you got in before me with Jeff's question, to be honest I didn't think DSS would actually process subs of different exposure lengths, but obviously, it dose it quite well, looking at your image. Hmmmmm.

well done Matt.

I've found DSS handles different exposures rather well. even one night I combined 5x2min ISO800, 10x2min ISO400 and 5x30sec ISO800... The resulting image came out somewhat like when you use layer masks in PS of different exposure levels, the areas burnt out in the 2min ISO800 images was fixed by the less burn ISO400 ones, and the 30sec ISO800 took care of the rest.
