urban grit and enlightenment

Hi All,

A recent business trip to melbourne gave me the opportunity to prowl the pre-dawn streets in search of photo opportunities... it was too damn cold so I only got a few hundred yards from the hotel

Anyway, here's a couple from the meagre bag taken.

The first a bit of back alley decay, the second a more uplifting shot of St Michaels ... the green tint is real, comes from the green tinted spotlights firing up into the tree behind.

cheers,

Rob

Love the textures and the green tint.
Looks great against the background sky.

first shot - great. love the feel to it.. hard to explain but im sure you know what i mean, its got a sense of "being there"

Second shot - better! love the framing of the tower between the trees. Looks like a HDR almost?

Yeh, I was surpised at this one, the framing was intentional but I hadn't expected the lighting feel. Not HDR, though it would have made a great subject for that. It was just that time of day, before sunrise, but with the sky lightening and the spotlight helped. I shot in raw and tweaked a little with recovery and fill. This was around a 10s exposure.

cheers,

Rob
