Thumbs up to Andrews Com

I would like to let you know about the great service I have received from Andrews Com and in particular Luke. Recently I purchased an EQ6 from them and when it arrived the end of the box had been torn out and 1 of the counter weights was missing a couple of calls to Andrews and they will be sending a replacement CW tomorrow. I at no time held Andrews responsible for the loss I just called them to ask how many counterweights should be in the box but they offered to send one.

Luke as been great over the phone everytime I have called he has offered advice and been proven to good advice.

Good stuff

Adrian
by the way I have no connection with Andrews except a happy customer

I noticed this on Andrews' site today;

"Orion products will be added to our product line-up very soon! Yes, there will be no need to pay up to double USA RRPs for Orion products"

Not sure how long its been there or how long till they start stocking the Orion gear, but its about time something was done about the ridiculous prices on some Orion stuff here in Oz..

I've had good service from there in the past recently too. The only thing I ever had go wrong was a long, long, long awaited WO APO upgrade that never came through and got discontinued after 8 months of waiting, despite me chasing it every 3-4 weeks. But that was one disappointment amongst many positive interactions from Lee and Luke!

Jethro, Yeah, They already have a few of the Orion products on their price-lists, with more coming soon....

Just days after I ordered and paid for a half a truck load of Orion scopes and accessories

Luke is always helpful but I think he's a bit hamstrung somethings with the lack of stock and organisation (the staff don't have email). Theres been a number of items recently advertised but they didn't have in stock and Luke said they were getting them in but nothing eventuated so I had to buy elsewhere.

Likewise I brought a dovetail bracket that Luke said was slightly marked so he took $5 off the price but was obviously secondhand from the number of marks on it then Lee wouldn't come to the party with a further discount.

If they've got the item in stock then it's not an issue.

Cheers

My only less than positive experiance I believe was directly because of that ...my previous dealings had always been great .. so it was strange to have a very small order go so wrong .

Thumbs up to Andrewscom

Having parted with a few $k's over the past 10 years or so to Andrews for a few scopes and many acessories, I have no complaints about their service though I usually pick up from the shop but having said that, I also have bought many accessories from other businesses as well , such as Bintel and others and have been pleased with the service from all of them wether over the phone or email or over the counter.
It's nice to have such a variety of choice, in retailers and in brands, these days, makes astronomy much easier to participate in.

Regards
Jeff

I think it was more to do with the over eagerness of the dispatcher. I
ordered on a Friday directly to Lee over the phone (about the second
or third time I had spoken with him) and made arrangements to make
a direct deposit when I'm in town next which was the following Tuesday.
I do remember him saying he'd have it packed and ready to go. When
I went into town that Tuesday it was already at the Post Office in
Casino. I went over and imediately deposited the funds and rang Lee
to thank him. I did feel he was rather pleased to hear from me, but in
all honesty he was pleased to offer the service. I ordered a filter from
Bintel this morning, and you can bet your bottom dollar it'll be in my P.O
Box up here in Casino in the morning.

We are lucky to have suppliers in this country that offer the services
to our community like they do... there are others like SDM and Wildcard
that are only too willing to offer advice and quality aussie product, we
should be proud of these people an support them in anyway we can.

regards,CS

Does anyone know whether they honour the Celestron 2 year warranty???

Recently I looked into purchasing a Celestron scope from Andrew's - which was over $1,000 cheaper than a competitor - and was told unofficially (by another source) that the price difference accounts for Andrew's being unable (or unwilling) to offer assistance in getting it fixed if you have a problem during the warranty period. That because they are not an official Celestron dealer you are effictively on your own once you hand the money over...

Totally unsupported claim as far as I know but has anyone experienced this?????

(Note - in all my dealings with Luke I have experienced nothing but polite, accurate and concise service....but I've never had the occasion to asses his/their after sales service.)

Sounds like someone closely associated with the other competitor talking
dribble.

As quoted from Andrews website....

We are authorised dealers for Ba'ader, Celestron, Ferrari, Guan Sheng Optical, Long Perng, Lumicon, Saxon, Skywatcher, Tasco, William Optics and many other brands...and we have far more stock than any other telescope or binocular dealer in Australia...for your convenience!

We import factory direct to the maximum - so you save the maximum!
We have recently negotiated lower road-freight rates for road-freighting large/bulky telescopes within Australia. Please call for quote.

We are happy to discuss your telescope requirements in detail.
We stock many hundreds of telescopes and thousands of accessories!
Why wait weeks or months elsewhere - only to pay far, far more?
We mail order worldwide - contact us now to order!

I think you'll find you'll get just as good a service as anywhere from Andrews.

regards,CS

Yeah possibly....and I tend to agree with you, but I think its worth putting it out there to see if there's any truth to it prior to spending big bucks. Besides, Andrew's isn't mentioned as a dealer or distributor on the Celestron website, maybe an oversight but you'd think it would be on there if they were an authorised dealer or were importing factory direct. Its enough for me to want to ask around....

Hi everyone,

I have a friend who works at Orion (I'm in the Santa Cruz area - just down the road from them). I was happily rubbing it in about planning my trip to Australia and then Andrews Communications popped into the conversation.

Apparently, Andrews is not an Authorized Orion Dealer (according to my source - and the Orion website). So that means no warranty support from Orion and they're not getting the product from Orion either. So Orion is not receiving any benefit from Andrews trading on their brand name. Doesn't seem right to me...

I would've posted sooner, but I didn't see the thread until this evening. I'll try to pay better attention in the future. Maybe I need a new lens.

Bob
