Slept in this morning, missing the eclipse.

Perfect condition here all night so I planned to go to my favourite spot with a great horizon early this morning for the eclipse.
Had my gear organised and everything but sure enough I ended up falling asleep on the couch.

Anyone else missed it or did the weather spoil it?

Hope those that saw it had a great view.

I had perfect conditions all night yesterday and early this morning but I slept in. I was out imaging fairly late so I didn't really feel like getting up early for the eclipse.

However the images that have been posted have made up for it.

I woke at 6:30 and peered out the window to see nothing but cloud to the horizon. Got up again at 7:00 and still no better so I turned the electric blanket up a couple of notches and went back to bed!

I missed it too. I stayed up late last night downloading podcasts, etc (making the most of my off peak downloads) and forgot all about it.

Oh well, after going to bed at 2:00am I don't think I'd have gotten up anyway at 4:00...

Al.

If the moon passes through the earth's shadow and nobody sees it does it really happen?

I set the alarm for 05:30, got up to organise the camera, looked outside - think I had about 25 secs of viewing before the moon became covered with a very large grey cloud -

Spent the whole day working in the back paddock, you could have let a bomb next to me and I wouldn't have stirred.

When's the next one?

Sure was an supreme effort to get out of that nice warm bed on Sunday morning. It was 02:30 hrs over here to catch the beginning but worth every moment as peoples pictures in solar system section show.
As an added bonus in between eclipse imaging and watching I saw half a dozen or so Persied meteors!

Very Happy!!!
