For my year 12 design & technology major I want to base my concept on something astro-related. I've seen a couple of space settlement designs that look really interesting (and complicated).

Any other suggestions?

Try designing an observatory but steer away from the contempary dome style

How about you try your hand at building a telescope (prefferably your own design of a Newtownian).

If you really wanted to impress, you could design a telescope made from recycled or easily accerssible materials and focus your project on globalising amateur astronomy, say for rural setings or third-world countries.

I'm also about to enter year twelve but I don't take D&T, though I am always considering what I could have done for a major project.
