CGE hand controller cord failure query

Stretching the coiled hand controller wire in my Celestron CGE 1100 has caused the strain release clip to fail, allowing for the normally covered internal wires to become visible at the point of exit from the hand controller body. This has resulted in an intermittent connection. Does anyone know if this problem would require replacement or can it be easily repaired by disassembly of the hand controller?

You need to open up the hand unit, and check if the wires are conected to a connector or directly soldered to the board. Wires are pretty strong, but solder joints are not.

See how you go.
