Cows on guard

An old abandonded house I found just North of Dungog. The cows around the building reminded me of the song "Cows with guns" dunno why. The shot didnt have the impact I thought in colour but in B/W it was exactly what I wanted.

cant shoot it in color turn it into monochrome ?

I shoot all my images in Nikon camera raw and convert to first TIFF then JPG. I converted the image to B/W at the JPG stage in CS3. I am going to process it again as I now know I can convert to b/w in camera raw in CS3.
Here is a copy of the original File in colour

Both colour and b/w are nice but I think the b/w gives it a more interesting atmosphere. If you look hard enough in the b/w shot you can almost see a cow's head and gunbarrel poking out of the gap by the chimney

Both versions look great but the B/W version does have something special about it.

Very nice shot mate.
As for B/W or sepia, I prefer the B/W.
For some reason the sepia for me looks more appealing on portraits rather than objects but it's just my taste.

Also I highly recommend using the CS3 Raw for B/W conversion.
I always work in Raw or 16 bit tiff until the last step when I convert for web.

Also did you know you can activate CS3 ACR Raw to open all your jpgs as well and allow you to edit them using all those magnificent options?
Try it you'll love it.

Nice shot Andrew, think I like the sepia -old pic/old house, love the look of abandoned houses. Luckily cannot think of the song.
