First DMK images of Jupiter

Hi All,
Had my first attempt at Jupiter with my DMK 21AU04.AS.
Since I can no longer get at Saturn I had a go at Jupiter last night. The seeing was very good, but it mostly is like that out here in Broken Hill.

This image is with my 16" F4.5 Newt with a Meade 140 2x triplet Barlow.
I am use to a very heavy processing regime for the storms on Saturn but treated my images from last night in a much gentler manner.

With a bit of fine tuning of my technique I think the DMK will produce stunning images of Jupiter. It is just so bright, and shows up some crap on my Barlow that I didn't realize was on it.

Any thoughts on cleaning the Barlow, I have an Orion lens cleaning kit from Bintel but am not to keen to rush in.

Nice first effort, Trevor. Colour looks good and with a better barlow and perhaps a little more magnification you'll be ready for some great results.

Wow Trevor, that's very very nice indeed! Very sharp, excellent detail and nicely processed.

Are you sure the dark smudge is on the barlow? It could be dust on the CCD of the DMK - it's very easy to get dust on it and will show up like that when the RGB images are combined.

Use a 3x or 4x barlow and get that image scale up!

All you need now is more magnification.

Thanks for showing us what can be done with a 16 inch with good seeing. The image is as good as I've seen from my friend Don Parker in Florida. He also has a 16 inch. Makes me wonder if there are any existing amateur photos of Jupiter on the net taken with even larger instruments. Keep up the good work. I'm jealous of your scope aperture and location and my wife is jealous that you live right near a rhodonite mineral deposit (we're mineral collectors too).
