Tonight I'm still playing with my new QHY8 - All set up. Slew to ngc3372. Focus is spot on - tracking is good too. I set up 15 x 5 minutes. Check one sub quickly. Bit dark but looks good - not to worry. Set up another run of 15 x 5 minutes. Come back again at the end of the run then realised I've been shooting all along through my cardboard made hartman mask
Thanks for the support Just another thing to add to my long check list of "things not to do". This one comes in position number 15 right after "do not invert RA and DEC cables"
I took a 15min exp. 2 nights ago then waited till it downloaded to the computer to see it. The problem was in Maxlm DL i had the dark frame box mark instead of the light frame box. Couldn't work out why i had no image on the computer till i seen the settings. .

I was trying to photograph the full moon at prime focus one night and was wondering why I couldn't frame it in the viewfinder.
Turns out I had left my solar filter on the scope.
....well at least my eye was safe.

Well at least you didnt do it the other way around and look at the sun with a moon filter in!!!!
