A few planets

Took Mars/Saturn in Leo - last evening ..... and the rest this am (1/7). Out checking for the comet, and skies were beautiful.
Taken with 450D, various settings.

Good to see someone is getting up at the wee hours to make the most of clear skies. I'll swap you for some fog.

Hey Renormalised - was a bit cloudy earlier, but very clear at 4am onwards, am up at Saunders Beach, and I took the pics down on the beach, was beautiful. A lot of air traffic around too, which made for some interesting photos.

Another great set of images Liz, I really like the last image with Orion.

What lens did you use for these shots?

It was cloudy as, back in town. Horrid actually. One of those plane trails you see there was probably my brother's plane. He went on holidays this morning. Plane left at 6am, for Sydney. Going on a cruise for 10 days!!!.

Nice piccies

Hi Matty - I used the lens that came with camera - 18-50mm EFS, am sure its a good lens, but drives me crazy with the focusing issues - it was easier that night with moon to focus on, but normally can take quite awhile to get a star in the livepreview bit, and focus. Have never had this trouble before, and have had a lot of cameras, incl SLR, but this is my first DSLR. Am on the lookout for another lens, and am following a few threads. There is a little Canon 50mm f1.8 Mk11 in town for $125 - some good reviews on ISS.

Yes RN, saw both those planes go, the one going south virtually went overhead, and took a few shots. Lucky him.
