piers

Hi all
Have just started my 8x7 observartory. I need some ideas about piers . Would a 6x6 wooden pier, dug down 750mm for a eq6pro be suitable, or will bolting a steel pier to a concrete floor do the job . I would like to use timber if possible ,but if it is not suitable will go to something else. I interested in astrophotography.
Thanks

this is what I put in it holds a eq5 pro mount and 8 inch newt but will cope with a eq6 pro no probs.
Keeping the pier and its footings seperate to the rest of the floor will stop the transfer of vibration to the pier as you walk around.
there are some others if you do a search that are really well done and even have the conduit running up the middle of the pier to keep the cable clutter neat and aids in not tripping over them.
