Ship to Overseas USA. Best methods?

Hi All,

I am trying to price up the most economical way to ship 4-5kg parcel overseas to the US. If anyone has some experience in this i would appreciate there help. I looked at AusPost and Airmail is about 94$ and Express Courier Int is about 110$. Express Post Int is also about 100$. For Express coueirer you can actually get a prepaid box for 110$ for 5kg or less.

Just for laughs i tired the DHL price calculator gave an estimate of $275. UPS and FedEx would likely be the same if not dearer.

I will be contacting PackandSend tomorrow to see what they would charge.

I would appreciate information on any other more economical services.

Regards
Fahim

Hi Fahim,
I send stuff all over the world all the time and find Australia Post's 'Express Courier International' are excellent. I have NEVER had a problem with them, and they are very fast for the price. Asia in three days, USA/Canada three to four days, UK and Europe less than a week. My parcels are usually under 2kg and ship in 'BM' size boxes. They have online tracking too.
I have used Fedex in the past for heavy items, paid around $300 for a 35kg package to the US, and about $1000 for 60kg from the US (what sort of idiot ships lead by air freight!).
Looked in to Pack and Send, but they wanted to do their own packaging, which was a lot flimsier than my packaging of a fragile item, and they were more expensive than Fedex anyway.

Cheers,
Jason.

FedEx quote came in at 220-260 for 4kg. But the chap i am dealing with has a FedEx account and will try to get a quote from them. So far the best bet seems to be AusPost.
