Guan Sheng might have their new 16" f/4.8 Dob. out by Christmas. Price is unknown but it should be a bit over $2000, I'd say.

Even spending $1000 on a Nagler, a total of around $3000 for a 16" with excellent EP is great Value!!
Even if I did get the 16" I'd stick with the EP's I've got. $3000 is far too much for me.

ohh geez... it'd be huge... does anyone else make a solid tube dob of that size? it'd be almost too hard to lug around? is it gonna be a solid tube dob? a step ladder would probably be in order.

Did he say if it was going to be solid tube or truss? With that low price I say solid tube...but probably with a split tube design. The 12" was going to be a spilt tube but for some strange reason they went the solid tube way. Good thing I have not put any money down for a 10" or 12"....but then again no big dob is going to fit in my 3rd storey apartment balcony

Wow, a 1.92 m focal length. It's going to be a big bugger. It's impressive that there isn't much of a price rise per area compared to the 12". Area increase is x1.78 and price increase is around (due to uncertain price) x1.82.

If you live on the top floor the solution is simple
The early rumours were for a truss dob. I can visualise a whole lot of people drouling in anticipation waiting for the first brave ones to buy theirs and report back.
I might be one of them
At f4.8 im wishing it was a 14 inch instead of a 16 as its going to need a step ladder or similar to reach eyepiece height at zenith.
