10" Newt on HEQ5Pro?

Just wondering would a 10" GSO Newt be pushing the limit of the gears on a HEQ5Pro?

I just had that very same issue <which mount for the GSO 10" Newt>, but to be on the safe side I went with the EQ6.

I have had a 10 inch newt on a HEQ5, It can work but leaves absolutely no room for much else, if it's for visual it could pass but anything else it's just a bit too much. I have mine on an eq6 pro and it handles far better than it ever did on the HEQ5.
I do wish I had gone straight to the Eq6 in the long run.

Hi,

If it's a Guan Sheng ten inch, then I tried it too. Not only was it at the absolute limit (though OK for planetary imaging) but also the weight of the OTA meant, I found, that it was necessary to get some extra counterweights - I ended up going to a gym shop. This meant that setting up was a performance - take mount out, add counterweights, put OTA on.... and reverse to finish of course. It did work, but the second hand C 9.25 which I luckily found a couple of weeks later was much easier!
