Cables ordered

I took another step closer to setting up my 400D for imaging today. I've now ordered all the required cables and adaptors so they are now on their way along with the obligatory cloud cover no doubt.

Next pay day I'll be ordering the MaxDSLR plugin software to go with MaximDL that I already have.

I'm slowly getting there, but I still have the DSI II to keep me happy until then, just wish people would stop sending me love letters with "please pay by" on the bottom

Cheers

It’s a long journey Ric, but you are wise to enjoy the scenery rather than pine for the finish. In fact, with astro photography, there is no end, you never arrive. Just around the corner, or tantalisingly concealed over the horizon, there is always the next best thing! LOL!

Cheers

A good point Dennis, there is always that new fangled camera just over the horizon with the extra million pixels and will bring out an extra two magnitudes of photons.

I think I'll have enough on my plate sorting this lot out before I start thinking about something new. anyway you have to be happy with what you have and push it to the limit.

Hi Ric

You’ll have heaps of fun with the new set up; I look forward to your 1st light images. Sometimes I feel that it’s the other way around though, with the equipment pushing me to the limit, and occasionally beyond!

Cheers

It's all good fun Dennis,

I always remember being told that I wouldn't be able to image galaxies beyond mag 13 in Alt/Az with a DSI and using sub 30 second exposures. I went out the next night and imaged a galaxy cluster with their brightness between 15 and 17, not the best image but I got it.

It's always that little buzz that I enjoy when you achieve something that you were not supposed to be able to do.

Cheers

Hi all, a quick update.

All the cables and DSUSB adaptor have now arrived and are ready to go.

And we all know how this story goes dont we?

Yep its been solid cloud for nearly a week now allthough I did see a patch of blue today for a little while. Still I have using the time to read up and research how to correctly use the 400D for imaging. I'm optimistic that there might be some clear sky for the long weekend.

Cheers

Ric,

why not do what Spike Milligan suggests. He waits til they start harrassing him, and then he tells them that he pays just one bill a month, and that if they don't stop harrassing him, they won't be included in next month's draw !!!
