I shot this the other night and only managed to get 7 frames before meridian flip once again. I couldn't believe it when I pressed recall user object #1 on the EQ6 Pro and heard the motors start whirring away frantically behind the drawn curtain instead of just a small adjustment. Next time we have clear skies I am going to start on it earlier so I can get better data. Anyhow I'm posting this anyway ... bit noisy and colour depth wasn't great.
To my untutored eye Steve it is certainly very appealing.
From Ric's comments I guess you can continue to add new data via fresh images to reduce the noise? Does that require very accurate reframing of the subject for future exposures or is it easily aligned in software later?
A nice start Steve, I think this one will come up a treat when you add the extra data to it.

Thanks Ric, it was a shame I had the meridian flip because things weren't going too bad 'till then and I don't like trying to continue shooting from the opposite side of mount etc.

I will probably just start a new image session all together Robert and take at least an hours data. It is however possible as you and Ric say to add new images via software stacking and doesn't need to be super accurate positioning but obviously if you like the composition of the image already then the closer to the original setup the better as far as keeping that. Hey it's all good practice. One day I would like to try some mosaic imaging to widen the field of view of the ST2000XCM and that would require more accurate positioning but I'm not there yet ..... always something new to try and learn.
Steve as you say, maybe a little noisy, but on the whole plenty of detail in that one, and the colour is just right I reckon, not over saturated, nice work.

Thanks Leon ! It was starting to look good on the CCDOPS raw images before the flip ... there was a loud " damn " in the observatory when the mount motors kicked in and it rotated to the other side.

Yea, I bet there was, dosen't that just give you the &%@# when that happens, it is sometimes better to wait an hour so there is no chance of a flip, rather than having one during the image run.

Right now I'd just be happy to have a clear night, the weather here is driving me nuts lately. Lucky to be getting one night a week or so.
