Promise the Last Eta From Me

Hi Guys, well during the week even with the Moon full, and still very high and bright, I have been experimenting, or practicing if you like with the now modded 5D. I promise this is the last Eta from me....

I seems that I have the processing in hand and, it is now time to get serious.

I know you are probably sick of Eta Carinae, but I had to practice on an object like this to get the feel of the Camera, and how it would respond to a very light polluted sky.

So here is Eta, 20 exposures at only 4 minutes each, at 400 ISO, with the Modded 5D, and the Tak 106, on the G11, auto guided, and all processing in Image Plus, with a touch up in PS2.

The Moon was a killer, but the camera performed pretty well under these conditions, please be my judge.

The first is a full wide field, un-cropped, and number 2, is a half crop of the full image,

Leon

I think I'm ready Well I hope I am.

Well Leon, These images look ok to me. So...I say go forth and move on from the great Eta Carina and go with pride and be forthright in your quest!

That FSQ is a mighty fine piece of kit, just about the best actually, so lets pin back the ears, buckle up and let the sky have it!

Hi Leon,

Nice image, you did a great job on modding that 5D and the colours you are getting show it. I have a secret desire to revisit Eta as well, so you are a braver man than me

Very nice... Had I just modded a 5D, I'd still be cleaning my underwear, let alone capturing images like that Top job on both the mod and the pics...

My vote goes to M20 for your next shots!

Nice work leon.
The reds are so errr Red!!! (with a capital 'R')
I like the detail brought out by the modded 5D and Tak - sweet!!!
Look forward to results from darker nights.

May well re-visit Eta in the near future too.
Received my modded 40D today, and of course it looks like the "end of days" outside now... 'P'-ing down with a capital P!! Plan to post a before and after mod comparison of the Eta region.

Cheers
Doug

Well thank you all very much for your kind comments, and as Mike said, I will go forth and image

Thanks Paul, I agree, it was a brave move , on my part, but I think it has paid off.

Alex m20 it is, when the Moon racks off and the sky is clear .

Doug, thanks mate, glad your camera arrived safe and well, go get em Doug, and thanks for the compliments..

Scott if it brings out this sort of detail in short exposures with a high Moon, I think it may perform very well under dark skies

Yea I know Jase, sorry, I promise I won't do it again but I had to practice on some thing, BIG... and now that it is all sorted, and I have a better understanding of the processing, I think things will be different

Now this web site that you speak of, I have considered doing some thing like that, but really not sure how to go about it.

See I'm constantly asking for assistance, but I blame that on my maturity, or old age, what ever you like to call it.

I will however look into it, as it sounds like the way to go.

Thanks for your suggestion and comment.

Leon

Once the clouds roll away you will get a crack at some imaging,(thursday i think) plenty to choose from, looking forward to see what you can do with your big modded camera and those newly aquired processing skills.

Lovely image Leon. Considering the moon of late you don't seem to have a gradient problem with your setup.

Well done
Go forth but don't multiply. One is enough

Wow

You seem to be picking up this imaging art really quickly.
Love those pinpoint stars.
Like a lot of other neb images of late....it seems very red.
