Can a HEQ5 pro carry more than an EQ5?

Hi Guys, title says it all.

I see lots of reference here and there to carrying capacity, but wondered what the real feel is out there from those who have experienced both. Is the HEQ5 pro a noticeably heavier duty mount than the EQ5, can it carry more etc?

thanks,

Rob

I haven't had any experience with these mounts but I have read that the HEQ5 can carry a couple of extra kgs than the EQ5.

Yes definitely - the HEQ5 is beefier mount then the EQ5 - about half way between the EQ5 and the HEQ6. It’s hard to get the exact max. load specs for these mounts - the basic EQ5 is rated between 9 and 11 kgs. the Meade LXD 75 / Orion Skyview Pro a bit more at 13 kgs. the Celestron CG-5GT at 15-16 kgs. the HEQ5 about is rated from 13 to 16 Kgs. - some web sites even say 18kgs. and the EQ6 between 18 to 25 Kgs - most sites going for the heavier 25kgs. Please correct me if wrong.
