Hi all, Have any of you tried to register with Macedon Ranges Observatory Forum.
I did today and was rejected. This is the email I recieved.

References may be any International Contact Person that has an Email Address and Website that can be contacted to verify your identity.
The Forum Administrators prefer that you choose someone with an Astronomy Affiliation or Background with an established Internet Profile as well. EG:

or a Published Work that can be verified via Internet Searches.
Once that is provided and verified, you may Re Register once again.

No other explanation just some crappy automated response.
What happened to the personal touch. I thought they were in business. Not as far as I'm concerned.
Perhaps I don't have the international standing required by this bunch.

It looks to me like they are only after international celebrity types.

I hope it falls on it's (I'm not allowed to say or spell it, you know what I mean)
I was going to book some time at the site but not now.

Yeah Doug happened to me the other day.
I only wanted to look at one of Paul Haeses images - decided to join but was denied as I have a hotmail email account.
that's reasonable I suppose, but the email was simply...

"Registration Denied. Hotmail accounts not allowed."

Nothing else!

I hope they're not as elitist as you suggest Doug.
From your rejection email looks like they are after a better class of astronomer!

IIS and SCP are enough for me anyhoo!

As much as Mr Bert Candusio likes to use other forums to bag me or IceInSpace, I do not, and will not let IceInSpace be used in the same way - which is likely how this thread will turn out so i'm going to lock the thread.

Every forum has their own rules and I guess we all have the choice to visit or not visit if we don't like it.
