Norma Ring of Fire.

Hi all,
Last night I had a go at NGC6164/65 after local astro guru Coops mentioned it as a good target.
Cloud was a real pain, coming and going.. But I did get a spell of about 30mins that were clear, although looking at the RAW exposures, I think there was some high cloud about playing games with me!
Anyway I got something. It's needs longer and a much darker sky. But it's a kick-off anyway.

6x4mins exposures at ISO800 with unmodified Canon300D and C9.25 @ f/6.3. Guided with ST80, ToUCam, K3CCDTools, & Star-Mate interface on G-11 mount.

Cheers

Nice shot Robby
Viewing it, its that faint it takes a scope like Orion's 18 incher to see it. It seems most of its light is red H Alpha, thats why its so hard to see and why it looks so red, even on unmodified DSLRs

Hi Robby. That's an interesting dark crescent shaped lane to the right of the central star.
