DSI RGB Moon

Here's my first attempt at a colour moon with the DSI. It is a stack of 100 subs of 0.001 secs each for each channel. While I'm happy with the shot I was hoping for a bit more colour? Any tips?

Hi Peter
Cool pic of the moon.
However, if its colour you looking for, ask NASA to take a couple of cans of DULUX Weatherglow on the next lunar mission and they can paint it for you.Seriously, if you want colour shots use the false colour tools in your image processing software

Howdy, not too bad a shot! I think you could have lengthened the exposures by a fraction or two, and I always do the moon in L only for the DSI 2 Pro or mono if using the Meade LPI. I also have a colour DSI 1, but have not tried with that one, but probably would use mono also as that is what the moon looks like to me when I see it by eye or in a scope.

Thanks for the comments. I'd normally not bother with colour on the moon but I was hoping to be able to push the colour saturation up to bring out some colour differences. I haven't found the false colour options in PS yet.

Give Dennis Dazzled by the Cosmos a pm.He produced a stunning false colour image of the moon a few weeks ago.

Hi Peter,

I was able to get a good colour image of the Moon using the Hue and Saturation controls in the "Final" stage of Registax.

Take care,
Doug
