Well guys my first results from the SXV-H9C camera is not good but here It is anyway. This was a 300 sec shot on the glob through an ED80 no guidng.
The camera Itself is very light and a lot of fun to use although I'm starting to think that It is not for light polluted skies. I used a UV/IR filter on It to try an prevent the colours from being polluted .

Nice louie great to see some action from the new camera ....wonder if a IDAS filter would help with the LP , its helped me double the exposure time on a average night.

'tis a good start Louie! What makes you think it's no good in light polluted skies? Is it just too sensitive?

Considering I cant take pics of DSOs at all with my DSLR Louie...It looks pretty good to me!

Give it time Louie.... 1-2 month down the track and you will be saying different.

Thanks for the encouragement guy's! Beren yep I'll try that filter can you PM me details on It please. Mike I think the hardest thing about these cameras is that you can only colour synthesize in high res. The seeing rarely allows for this so your forced down to 2x2 bin mode but in these cameras Its only monocrome although a lot more sensative. Thank you azimov,the guys here have been doing some very good work with there cameras.Tony your always after a bargin and one of these days you'll get one.

Anyway I shall persist !

Give it a go with an Ha filter as well Louie, I tried one in the D100 the other night, right next to the full moon, and it gave an interesting result.

An Ha filter may not give you tighter stars, but in the light pollution it will really help. Worth a crack anyway.

are you going to bring this set up along to Kulnura on the weekend?
that shoud enable you to crank up the exposure..still a nice m22, all you need to do is convert it to grey scale and you have a killer image
