A fine night

It was a wonderful moonless night in my area last night so I took advantage of this to collect some good narrowband data with the DSI II.

My main areas of concentration were on the Trifid and the Eagle nebulas, I'll process thm later in the week when rain and cloud is forcasted. Towards the the end of the night I turned the scope to M83 and took some Ha data to see what it would come out like, an was very impressed with the results.

It looks like another clear night coming up so I'll be chasing up more data on M83, being a moonless night as well I think it will be a galaxy night as well.

Hope everyone else has a prouctive clear night as well.

Cheers

Weather is looking good on the east coast all week!

Looking forward to seeing your data, Ric!

Hi Ric

Yes – I enjoyed a night out until around 2:30am, with the odd tendril of thin cloud which didn’t really bother me. I have been trying to chase down star trailing due to side by side flexure so I tinkering and tuning, rather than hard core imaging.

Cheers

Dennis

No worries Mike, It's interesting to process narrowband because in a sense you are not bound by the "traditional look" of the colours as such but you still have to be careful not to go overboard and turn it into a cats breakfast.

Cheers

Too smokey here .... no clouds , not much breeze (very still) .

All the pseudo greenies had their wood heaters lit and the smoke was just hanging there in the Gateshead / Windale valley. These people need to convert to gas or RC airconditioning.

hopefully It will be clear here too.

I also had a night out with a dsi 2, only it was for guiding, performed brilliantly. Got a guide star every where it looked with .2 second exposure.

Also polar aligned, collimated and focused everything perfectly. Only thing was I only got 5 exposures off before it was too cloudy, but tonight is looking good too.

There won't be much happening here tonight Jen, not outdoors anyway. The sky is very murky and grey up here today with some strong winds thrown in for good measure, I can't see that changing in a hurry.
