Astronomy 1010 Video Podcast

Hi All,

Due to the interest in the Astronomy 161 and 162 podcasts I thought I'd share this one that I've found.

While browsing the itunes podcast directory I noticed this one but the URL to subscribe was bad. A bit of digging and I found the lecturers website and an updated URL for this particular course. From what I've looked at so far it's very similar to Astronomy 161, perhaps a little more basic. The difference with this one is that the lecturer has recorded video of the lectures. The video shows what he's showing on the screen and an overlay of him actually giving the lecture in the corner.

Unlike Astronomy 161 with this one you can see what he's talking about without having to imagine it. I showed my wife briefly and she has expressed interest in watching it so this could be perfect for people that struggle a bit with some of the concepts of motion, light etc.

There's an audio version as well for the bandwidth challenged. Here's the link to the website where you can find the XML links.

Cheers,
Greg

Thanks Greg! Sounds interesting. I'll leave it till I get onto satellite before I start hunting PODcasts again though. I have to suffer a little dial up drought in order to get my own dark skies!

I hear you Al. Even on broadband I have to watch my downloads so I don't bust my limit. I'm waiting until later in the month to see how my quota stands before I download the remaining episodes but from what I've seen so far it's definitely worth getting when you can.

Cheers,
Greg

Excellent, I'm always happy to hear of new vodcasts. However I can't get their subscribe link to work... do you have one that works? I get a 404/not-found.

Thanks,
Roger.

Hi Roger,

I just tested it and it works. I use iTunes and it subscribed and started downloading the latest episode when I clicked on the link for the video podcast. Here's the actual link to subscribe. Maybe it only works with iTunes?

hmmm... I downloaded this but it was a lecture where he just went through some multiple choice questions... nothing about motion or light...

Do you think the link has replaced/updated? It was still called ASTR 1010 though....
