TRADE: eyepieces Televue, Vixen LV

I have a couple of eyepieces to trade:

1x 1.25" Vixen LV 40mm cost ($245)
2x 1.25" Televue 20mm Plossls (cost $129 each)

The eyepieces are as new in box, no marks, scratches etc

I am looking for quality 1.25" eyepieces of 4-8mm range and/or quality barlows, it could be a trade plus cash from my end depending on what you have.

The 2 televues are unused in box and 4 weeks old, I tried them in my binoviewer and found the WO cheapies must better (go figure). The LV is about a year old but is basically unused also.

If you want to buy them, the Vixen is $135, the TV's are $90.

PM me with what you have.

Cheers,

Alex

I've got a LV 4mm that sees little use due to the vibration of the deck and do want a 20mm TV.

Will know by the weekend (weather permitting) if another area in the yard will allow me to use it.

Dear Alex,

Please advise what you are looking for and I will likely be able to asist.

I am an eyepiece collector and have in excess of 350 pieces, every designation under the sun, including new, recent and antique types.

Your comments regarding WO's eyepieces are very valid, why did you think TV's should be better just because they are more expensive, WO's gear is state of the art and much better than TV, you shouldn't be surprised at this as they do make equipment that is brilliant, you should see through their fluorites.

I own a number of TV refractors (Genesis, Pronto, TV102 as some examples - I am a collector) and ALL the WO fluorite refractors (Megrez 90, FLT110 and FLT132) beat the pants off the Genesis fluorite 101mm from TV, it just isn't comparable under any circumstances, TV is just very very well marketed.

Please email your preferences and I will advise how I can support.

Rgds,
Astromelb.

Chris,
Funny what you say about Tele Vue and WO scopes.
You don't sell Tele Vue but do sell WO scopes.
You are a vendor and should be careful what you say about products.
Owning lots of gear does not mean you know all about different products on the market.
And your comment that " Wo's gear is state of the art and much better than TV" shows you may not know as much as you think.
Both products are very good and most people would be happy to have either.

Offer a service but don't misslead people on thinking one product is a lot better than another. It's your opinion only.

Dave.

Thanks for pointing that out Dave.
I, along with most others on here I suspect, didn't realise that Astromelb was a retailer.
Surely it would be a point of honesty for retailers and dealers to let it be known in their signature that they have a vested interest.

Regards,
Jason.

I agree with what you said also.

Hmmm,
seems inapropropriate to compare telescopes of dissimilar focal length. The original vintage 1988 Televue Genesis is a short, fast F/5 allowing very wide field low power views. All three "William Optics" telescopes you mention are longer, and slower than the Genesis (Megrez 90mm is F/6.9 while the FLT110 and FLT132 are F/7.0) and consequently give a narrower field. Of course its easy to achieve slightly improved color correction with a longer focal length.
The classic Genesis still wins today on price, field of view, and color correction for its time in 1988 and F/5 specification
I have never owned any of these instruments
