Problem installing camera driver with XP Windows

Well I have my Skynyx 2.0 camera back nicely cleaned from Lumenera, new laptop and motorised filter wheel ready to go.

Unfortunately my new laptop with Windows XP is not accepting the Lumenera camera driver, so I can't use it!

The error I get is:
--------------------
"Please make sure you have finished any previous set up and closed other applications "

Error Code: -5009 : 0x80040806
Error Information:
>Ctor\IScriptWrapper.cpp (27)
>Ctor\ObjectWrapper.cpp (163)
>Ctor\ObjectWrapper.cpp (391)
>Kernel\Component.cpp (1163)
>Kernel\CABFile.cpp (384)
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1526)
PAPP:SKYnyx Software
PVENDOR:Lumenera Corporation (http://www.lumenera.com)
PGUID:160E4874-F3BD-4ABE-A3F9-3B654341B9E3
$11.0.0.28844PAK
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 6.0.2900.2180

------------------------

I have been in touch with Lumenera. They asked me to close Photoshop and all other applications to Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield on the Windows Explorer -> Rename the "Install Shield folder" to "Old Install Shield" -> Run the installer should work fine. -> Rename the Folder back to Original name.

I tried this but no change. Same message!

Can anyone with a bit of know how suggest anything else?

Hi John,
Looks like some of the components haven't registered correctly.
I would suggest going into the "Device Manager" in XP, find the Skynyx driver and try to update it from the install cd. Make sure you choose the manual method, not XP automatically find best driver. This may work.
Failing that, uninstall the driver completely, reboot the pc, and reinstall the driver before plugging in the camera.
When you installed last time, were there other errors reported?
Let me know.

Hi Deano,

thanks for the advice.

The Skynyx driver has not installed yet. I get the error when I try and install the driver. Then the driver does not install itself.

As such, I cannot find the SxyNyx device or the driver in the Device Manager area.

Any other thoughts?

All fixed. Thanks for comments. Deleted both Lucam and the driver and re-installed both dowloading the driver from the LuCam website this time. Whatever it was it's all fixed now. Now just waiting for my license key and we are away!

Glad to see you got it fixed, John.

These things can be so 'buggy'. It frustrates the bejesus out of me sometimes...but like you've done, you've just gotta work through the problem.

All's well that ends well, eh? Looking forward to your images with the Skynyx. You might convince me to get one myself

hey John,

did you go the Lucamn REcorder from Heiko? Version 2.

It is very good and he has also allowed for DMK's in this version.

Paul Haese and I both use Lucam Recorder and love it!
