Had another go at the Sombrero last night - this time with similar exposures to my first attempt (50x15 sec) but darker skies and in colour. I also tried some longer exposures through the UV/IR (30 secs). At 30 secs I was getting egg shaped stars. I'm planning to try this again with guiding but a mount overhaul might be on the agenda.
The first one looks great Peter. You are certainly starting to get the hang of the DSI. The second one looks as though you have heavily clipped the black and white ends of the tonal range making the brighter stars and the center of the galaxy burn out.
I think it's my ignorance of using deep sky stacker. I tried saving the uncombined images and post stacking this weekend in an attempt to control which frames got stacked but I'm not having much success with DSS. This is the image that Envisage stacked from the same imaging run.
