galaxy ngc 3621

my only offering lately, been away fishing for a while, now that im back neither the weather is co-operating.... (going to be cloudy all this weekend) and the department of fires is burning off again. so this is it for now

i did this as tamtarn put it up and i liked it so thought id add it to the list done last sunday night 12 x 6 min exposures at iso 800 plus the usual darks and flats through the 12 inch newt. NGC 3621 there is a hint of arms further out in the image and i did a google image search and found some ccd images that showed them but its a bit beyond the 300d.

im waiting to do some of the Ha nebs in the tail of the scorpion as my next objects, cats paw etc hopefully sooner than later.

cheers Clive

Hi Clive,

Lovely shot. Widefield of a galaxy is very small but the effect of it hanging there in space looks great

Thats Beautiful Clive!
Colors look great and so natural, I still struggle in my color balance..
Hope you had a great time down in Tassie!
I think I would have spent more time taking pics than fishing..lol
cheers Gary

Gorgeous shot Clive !

Like Zuts said, I love how it just seems to hang in space.

Terrific image Clive. Colour and background perfect.

We had to crop ours more than 50% to get the galaxy looking a reasonable size.. Just love the field of the 12"

thanks for all your comments, my color balance has been a bit dodgy recently, i ran this one past tamtarn for an opinion before posting it and adjusted it slightly to suit, i had to use the eyedropper tool in photoshop as the numbers are much more accurate than my old eyes.

Gary h we took about 420 pics while away ibought a 4 gig chip for the camera.... i should have bought 2 chips

ideally i would like a new camera..... like 5 mins after he sold it i saw erics modded 40d for sale never mind maybee someone wants to sell a q8

thanks for looking guys.
