Ethos 13mm now more bino friendly

This links is courtesy of Phil Watson ( who has now probably got one less reason not to buy a second one for his 10" Bino !)

This might cause values on the 2nd hand market of the original model to take a small hit. I wonder if there will be a marking to identify the new slimmer ethos?

I will NEVER sell my Ethos, so this is not likely to be an issue for me!

1.5mm on a bino pair isn't that much of a change. I notice the price in th US has dropped to $620, I wonder if prices here in Oz will drop as well.

Fat Ethoi

It doesn't sound like much of a change - but it will make all the difference for lots of users when they are binewted (is that a word?). The average interpupillary spacing for adults is 63mm, & two "fat Ethoi" together are spaced 63.5mm apart (including the rubber grips).

I am trying to resist Mark's logical conclusion to all this.

They've been $620 since before Christmas, so that doesn't seem like it'll filter down to us..

Nope, nor of availability but even at that price I won't be buying one. However he has a good price for an autocollimator on the page - I'll be contacting him about that. I'll ask.

I asked Matthew Lovell whether he had stock of the Ethos at that price of AUD680.

He replied:- "Yes, we have stock of the Ethos." He said nothing about the price so I presume that's the price he sells for.

I've never dealt with Matthew before. He replied to my email promptly.

All I can tell you is I bought another item from the same page and paid the listed price plus postage - so the price listed for the item I bought included GST. I can only imagine the same applies to the listed Ethos price. But I'm not buying one so I won't enquire further.
