Thank You God!!!

Hard to believe I know, but the skys over Brisbane tonight are completely clear tonight, and not too turbulent even. Why is this such an amazing event? Well for one it's been cloudy all week and pis*ing down rain all day today, but most amazingly, yesterday the little C6 I bought of Alex arrived as well as my new EQ5 on which it lives. Full moon or no, there is nothing like setting up a new instrument under a clear sky and having a few hours looking at your favourite star clusters and asterisms.

Top scope Alex, just needed a minor collimation adjustment.

Just spent some time under the stars myself. How bright is that moon. I had a quick squiz at it through the scope and almost took out my retina!!! I need a moon filter. Unfortunately it is like a dirty great spotlight out there. I might set the alarm for after moon set. Beautifull night though.

I don't think my wife was impressed when she saw me hauling out the scopes when she was off to bed. At least I got a chance to practice polar alignment tonight and try recording my PEC, although I discovered how much flexure the ground under my mount has. The concrete blocks go in this week

There was one cloud making a mad dash for me that was dumping rain over South Straddie, but by the time it got here it had almost disappeared due to hitting the dry air mass. I had the tarp, emergency shower curtains, and plastic garbage bags all ready to go just in case.

I was cursed by heavy dew all night as my evil neighbours decided to water their lawn with a soaker hose for a couple of hours. Anyone want to report them for me?

Cloud at the top of the north coast as well. Looks promising for tonight though. Of course it's full moon tonight

Thumbs down

100% cloud here. Typical .

Anyway, I'm off to the NACAA tomorrow and I'm expecting rain won't ruin that!

Last night we were under a dry air mass. Tonight is the opposite, so
combined with the full moon I'm spending some much needed time with the wife
